My studio is full of orchids. I have developed a passion for them over my years of painting flowers. I purchased a Maxillaria Tenuifolia at an orchid show in Portland Oregon several years ago. It had been trained to grow on a piece of bark, a great way to care for and display the orchid. When it came into bloom, these bold little flowers smelled like coconut and the exotic shape captivated my imagination. I’ve tried to capture the feeling of motion in Coconut Dreams. I want the flowers to feel like they are leaping off the canvas. |
